Topaz
specimen number:
8911015
location:
Tubussis Farm 22, Daures, Erongo, Namibia
description: Situated along the western foreland of the Erongo Complex in western Namibia, Tubussis Farm 22 features a diverse geological environment highlighted by calc-silicate skarns, marble units, and miarolitic granitic pegmatites. Contact metamorphism and hydrothermal fluid interactions in these formations generated world-class skarn deposits as well as crystal-lined pegmatite pockets. Historically mined by local small-scale miners and specimen collectors, the locality gained international fame through operations at sites like the Green Dragon Mine, which yielded vibrant green demantoid garnet crystals set on pale marble matrix. Beyond garnets, small-scale surface diggings across the farm have produced fine collector specimens of smoky quartz, aquamarine beryl, tourmaline, and rare silicates, establishing the locality as a vital contributor to the regional mineral trade.
A loose glassy gem quality pale blue terminated crystal of topaz. This is in excellent condition all around. This weighs 72.14 g.
Size: 4.8 x 4.0 x 2.7 cm (miniature)
