location:
St. Anne's Mines, Mwami, Karoi, Zimbabwe
description: Located in the Mwami mica field of the Karoi District in Zimbabwe, St. Anne's Mine is a fluorine-enriched granitic pegmatite intrusion set within Precambrian metamorphic schists. Originally discovered and operated for beryllium and mica since the 1950s, the mine has experienced various phases of commercial and artisanal extraction. Geologically, intense hydrothermal alteration and kaolinization zones within the pegmatite framework fostered an environment for rare mineral growth. The locality is internationally celebrated among mineral collectors and museums for producing world-class, highly sought-after unheated blue topaz crystals, which frequently exhibit sharp pinacoidal terminations, exceptional clarity, and vibrant natural coloration.
An attractive loose naturally etched crystallized grouping of topaz. This has an attractive blue color and shows good transparency. In good condition all around with very minimal chipping present on what is considered the backside. This weighs 45.71 g.
