description: Located in the Khoroshivskyi district of Zhytomyr Oblast in Ukraine, the Volodarsk-Volynskii pegmatite field is a world-renowned geological province hosted within the Korosten Pluton of the Ukrainian Shield. Formed during the Proterozoic eon through complex magmatic and hydrothermal processes within massive gabbro-anorthosite massifs, these unique miarolitic pegmatites contain numerous cavities rich in rare elements. The region has a long history of industrial mining and mineral collecting, celebrated particularly for producing some of the finest gem-quality heliodor in the world. These prized golden-yellow to greenish-yellow beryl crystals, often occurring alongside topaz, quartz, and fluorite in deep underground cavities, have made the locality a legendary destination for both scientific study and mineral specimen acquisition.
Pale yellow lustrous and gemmy naturally etched crystal of beryl, this double terminated and in perfect condition. This is the variety of the species often called heliodor. Classic material for the species and locality. The crystal weighs 8.94 g.
