Topaz
specimen number:
9731009
location:
Sakangyi, Kyauk-Pyat-That, Mogok, Mandalay, Myanmar
description: The Sakangyi pegmatite field, located near Kyauk-Pyat-That within the famed Mogok Stone Tract of Mandalay Region, Myanmar, is host to gem-bearing granite pegmatites that intruded the Miocene Kabaing granite body along the Mogok Metamorphic Belt. These miarolitic pegmatite bodies formed during late magmatic evolution as volatile-rich fluids cooled and produced large open cavities, generating ideal conditions for growing exceptional gem crystals. Historically mined for over a century through both primary hard-rock excavations and secondary alluvial or colluvial gravel workings, the locality has achieved international renown among mineral collectors. While the area is globally celebrated for producing giant, world-class colorless to sherry-colored topaz crystals, it is equally prized for fine aquamarine beryl, morganite, schorl tourmaline, smoky quartz, and microcline feldspar matrices.
Superb glass gem quality sharply formed crystal of topaz. In super condition. The crystal weighs 107.66 g.
