Topaz
specimen number:
2354072
location:
Karengerenge, Kalumbila, Zambia
description: Karengerenge village, located in the Kalumbila District of the North-Western Province of Zambia, lies within the geologically rich Lufilian Arc, a fold-and-thrust belt formed during the Neoproterozoic Pan-African orogeny. The region features metamorphic host rocks intruded by pegmatites and hydrothermal quartz veins that provided the ideal geochemical conditions for topaz growth. Discovered by collectors relatively recently, small-scale artisanal miners work local surface workings and secondary eluvial deposits to recover high-quality gem minerals. The locality has earned international renown among mineral collectors for producing vibrant imperial topaz crystals, prized for their rich golden-amber to sherry colors, exceptional gem transparency, and distinct terminations.
A gorgeous large partly gemmy and glassy Imperial topaz crystal. This is in perfect condition all around and very sharply formed.
