location:
Tribute Pocket, Agnes Dei Claim, Cameron Cone, El Paso Co., Colorado, USA
description: The Tribute Pocket, located on the Agnus Dei claim on the northern slopes of Cameron Cone in El Paso County, Colorado, is situated within a highly zoned, miarolitic pegmatite body that forms part of the one-billion-year-old Pikes Peak granite batholith. Originally prospected in the mid-twentieth century by Ed Over, the site was rediscovered decades later by collector Rich Fretterd, leading to the 2012 excavation of the famous Tribute Pocket. This extraordinary find produced world-class gem-quality topaz specimens featuring brilliant orange-sherry, peach, and reddish-pink colors, establishing the locality as one of the most significant modern gem discoveries in the United States.
Beautiful champagne colored glassy gemmy double terminated loose crystal of topaz. In excellent condition all around. Very fine for the species from the state of Colorado. This weighs 79.5 g. The color is excellent.
