Spodumene
specimen number:
2354286
location:
Barra do Cuiete, Conselheiro Pena, Minas Gerais, Brazil
description: The Barra do Cuiete region within Conselheiro Pena, Minas Gerais, Brazil, is centered in the Eastern Brazilian Pegmatite Province, where complex granitic pegmatites intruded into older Precambrian metamorphic basement rocks. Mining and prospecting operations in these weathered pegmatite bodies have been carried out primarily by local artisanal and commercial miners targeting rich cavities formed during late-stage hydrothermal activity. The area is globally famous for producing exceptional gem spodumene, specifically the pink to lilac variety known as kunzite, alongside hiddenite and beryl variants. Spodumene crystals from local deposits like the Urucum claim are prized by collectors and gem cutters for their massive size, high transparency, and delicate pastel coloration.
A loose neat crystallized yellowish green gem spodumene specimen. The shape is aesthetic, this is all completely natural and in great condition. The crystal weighs 24.97 g.
