Nani Hill in the Loliondo division of the Ngorongoro District in Arusha, Tanzania, is not a formally scheduled commercial mine with fixed historical opening and closing dates, but rather a localized mineral occurrence that gained prominent attention during regional gem-prospecting rushes. Geologically, it is situated within the Mozambique Belt terrain of high-grade Proterozoic metamorphic rocks, characterized by a large quartz mass or vein system intersecting weathered schist and mica-rich host rocks. The site is internationally renowned among mineralogists for its manganese-rich metamorphic assemblage, which uniquely yields vivid orange spessartine garnets and rare orange kyanite associated with hematite and manganese oxides.
