Colorless prismatic crystals of hemimorphite to 0.6 cm in size on matrix with rhombohedral lustrous opaque white crystals of calcite to 0.7 cm. In good condition. From the 1980s. The specimen comes with a previous collection label from Ray DeMark.

Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico, is a historic mining district whose initial discovery dates back to 1591 by Spanish explorers, though significant commercial production officially began around 1703 and has continued intermittently to the present day without a definitive closing date. Geologically, the district is hosted primarily within thick sequences of Cretaceous limestone and dolomite of the Sierra Santa Eulalia. The ore deposits are classic carbonate replacement systems consisting of massive sulfide mantos, chimneys, and skarns driven by deep-seated Tertiary felsic intrusions, which underwent extensive near-surface oxidation.
