A choice semi lustrous thick grouping of pseudo-hexagonal pyrrhotite crystals to .5 x 2.2 x 1.3 cm in size set on a crystallized quartz matrix. This is in great condition. Classic material for this locality. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.

The El Potosi Mine, located in the West Camp of the historic Santa Eulalia mining district in Chihuahua, Mexico, began major commercial operations in the late 19th century and has experienced intermittent production and periods of inactivity into the 21st century. Geologically, the deposit is a classic carbonate replacement system hosted chiefly within thick Cretaceous limestone and dolomite sequences. Mineralization was driven by intrusive activity that formed massive sulfide mantos, chimneys, and skarns, which later underwent extensive deep oxidation to produce world-class mineral specimens, including exceptional quantities of silver, lead, and zinc ores.
