Fluorite

location:
Xianghuapu Mine, Xianghualing ore field, Linwu Co., Chenzhou, Hunan, China
description: The Xianghuapu Mine, situated within the famous Xianghualing ore field in Linwu County, Chenzhou, Hunan, China, is situated in a geologically rich Mesozoic granite intrusion complex characterized by intense skarn and hydrothermal replacement processes. Magmatic activity associated with Yanshanian granitic intrusions forced mineral-bearing fluids into surrounding Paleozoic carbonate rocks, forming expansive skarn zone deposits rich in fluorite, tin, tungsten, and zinc. Long mined for industrial metals and fluorite ore, the mine gained global fame among mineral collectors starting in the late twentieth century for producing world-class mineral specimens. Specimens of Xianghuapu fluorite are especially prized for their translucent to transparent pale green to vibrant emerald-green color, exceptional cubic crystal habits, and frequent association with white calcite, dolomite, or quartz matrix.
A gorgeous cluster of glassy gem quality sharply formed cubic crystals of green fluorite without matrix. In super condition.
