Fluorite
specimen number:
2341108
location:
Sidi Ayed, Boulemane Caidat, Boulemane Cercle, Fes-Meknes, Morocco
description: Sidi Ayed in the Boulemane region of Morocco features complex geological formations characterized by vein systems and carbonate host rocks that cut through the local terrain. The mining and collecting history of this area centers primarily on artisanal and small-scale operations targeting open cuts and mineralized veins rather than large industrial mines. Collectors and local miners have historically extracted notable mineral specimens, particularly distinctive varieties of fluorite and aragonite, with some material occasionally sharing historical market links or confusion with nearby classic Moroccan mining districts like Aouli.
A cluster of amber colored semi lustrous slightly translucent cubic fluorite crystals without matrix. Crystals of double terminated colorless quartz to 1.3 cm in size are scattered across these fluorite crystals. Completely crystallized all around and in good condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Jan Erik Larsen.
