Epidote with Quartz
specimen number:
2062801
location:
Rosario Mabel claim, Pampa Blanca, Castrovirreyna, Huancavelica, Peru
description: The Rosario Mabel claim in the Pampa Blanca area of the Castrovirreyna Province in Huancavelica, Peru, is part of the rugged Andean metallogenic belt characterized by complex Tertiary volcanic sequences intruded by hydrothermal systems. Regionally dominated by precious and base metal veins, this specific claim gained notable attention among mineral collectors following discoveries in the mid-1990s. It became recognized for producing high quality, lustrous green epidote crystal clusters, often found in fine association with contrasting quartz. Mining and collecting activities here typically target localized skarn or hydrothermal pockets embedded within the broader volcanic host rocks of the high Cordillera.
Attractive combination piece with a grouping of deep green lustrous crystals of epidote 3.3 cm in length coming off a cluster of mostly gemmy lustrous crystals of quartz. There is no matrix. Complete all around. In very good condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.
Size: 5.5 x 4.5 x 1.5 cm (miniature)
