Childrenite-Eosphorite, Siderite
specimen number:
2354031
location:
Hagendorf, Waidhaus, Upper Palatinate, Bavaria, Germany
description: Located in the Waidhaus municipality of Upper Palatinate, Bavaria, Germany, the Hagendorf pegmatite area is world-famous for its complex granitic pegmatites that formed hundreds of millions of years ago. Mining in the district began in the nineteenth century primarily to extract feldspar and quartz for the ceramic industry, but deep development quickly revealed rich phosphate-bearing zones. These altered core zones became celebrated among mineral collectors as type localities for numerous rare secondary phosphate minerals, making Hagendorf one of Europe's most classic and prolific sites for mineralogical discovery.
Needlelike micro crystals of the childrenite-eosphorite series on crystallized siderite. In good condition. The specimen comes with a previous collection label as shown at the end of the video.
