location:
Grand Reef Mine, Graham Co., Arizona, USA
description: The Grand Reef Mine, located in the Aravaipa Mining District of Graham County, Arizona, is hosted within a prominent vertical sheet of silicified breccia controlled by a major fault system cutting through older basement rocks and volcanics. First discovered in 1890 and actively developed during the early to mid 20th century, the underground operation primarily targeted lead, silver, and zinc, though subsequent processing operations continued into the 1950s. Today, the site is globally famous among mineral collectors as a premier locality for linarite and various rare species.
Interesting locality example for the species, rich bladed blue crystals of azurite measuring to 0.3 cm in size on matrix. In good condition.
