2062990
location:
Apex Mine, San Carlos, Chihuahua, Mexico
description: The Apex Mine, located near San Carlos in Chihuahua, Mexico, is situated within a rugged desert terrain characterized by sedimentary and carbonate rock formations that host extensive oxidation zones. Historically, the site has seen intermittent mining exploration and small-scale operations targeting base metals, but it has achieved international renown primarily as a premier mineral collecting locality. Collectors and miners have extracted world-class, highly crystallized specimens of vanadinite from it's vugs and cavities, often associated with calcite.
Attractive lustrous brown orange red crystals of vanadinite to 0.5 cm in size across the top of matrix. This is in great condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.
