specimen number:
2062988
location:
Puzzler Mine, La Paz Co., Arizona, USA
description: The Puzzler Mine, situated in the Castle Dome mining district within the desert mountain ranges of La Paz County, Arizona, developed historically as a hardrock producer of silver and lead from veins cutting through regional volcanic and sedimentary rock formations. While commercial extraction operations targeted precious and base metals during the territorial and mid-twentieth-century mining eras, the site gained lasting renown among mineral collectors for its exceptional secondary mineral specimens. Collectors and museums prized the underground workings and dumps for yielding striking crystal specimens, notably including atypical green vanadinite.
Lustrous greenish brown crystals of vanadinite to 0.3 cm in size very nice and rich across the top of this thin matrix. The specimen is in good condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.
Size: 5.0 x 4.0 x 1.0 cm (miniature)
