location:
Delfina Mine, Picos de Europa, Asturias, Spain

The Delfina Mine, located near Ortiguero in the Cabrales council of Asturias, Spain, is set within a rugged karstic limestone and dolomitic landscape characteristic of the Picos de Europa region. Historically worked for copper extraction with origins possibly dating back to ancient periods, the site experienced modern exploration and small-scale mining operations during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Today, the mine is globally celebrated by mineral collectors and researchers as a classic locality for secondary copper minerals, most notably producing exceptional specimens of tyrolite alongside other rare arsenates.
