Silver with Cobaltite

location:
Agnico Mines, Cobalt, Ontario, Canada
description: Agnico Mines Limited originated in the historical Cobalt silver camp of Ontario, where multiple smaller mining companies consolidated operations in the 1950s to extract precious metals from narrow, mineralized veins hosted within Proterozoic Huronian Supergroup sedimentary and Archean basement rocks. Over several decades of active regional operations, Agnico successfully mined numerous properties, extracted silver from historical tailings in local lakes, and played a major role in sustaining the iconic mining district before eventually transitioning into a global gold producer.
Fairly rich masses of both native silver and cobaltite throughout this matrix. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.
