description: The Castle Mine, located in Haultain Township within the Gowganda camp of Timiskaming, Ontario, operated primarily from 1917 to 1989 through various phases of active production. Geologically, the deposit is hosted within a Proterozoic-aged Nipissing diabase sill, where high-grade native silver, cobalt, and nickel mineralization occur primarily within narrow, steeply dipping calcite-filled veins and complex fracture systems.
A choice crystallized example of native silver with very little attached matrix. Quite good for this locality.
