Located within the rugged Andres del Rio mining district of Batopilas, Chihuahua, Mexico, the New Nevada Mine is characterized by hydrothermally altered volcanic host rocks cut by narrow, high-grade veins containing carbonate gangue and exceptional crystalline native metal. Mining operations in this historic region date back centuries, seeing major underground development and intermittent bonanza-style extractions during both the colonial period and later large-scale industrial management eras. The mine became globally famous among mineral collectors for producing world-class, intricately twinned specimens discovered within isolated subterranean pockets.
