Schorl with Quartz
specimen number:
1121698
location:
Erongo Mountain, Usakos and Omaruru Districts, Erongo Region, Namibia
description:
A 12.0 x 11.0 x 7.0 cm matrix, the top covered by both lustrous black schorl crystals and prismatic terminated smoky quartz crystals. The schorl crystals are incredibly lustrous, mirror-bright, and measure to 3.0 x 2.5 x 2.5 cm in size. The smoky quartz crystals are lustrous as well, translucent, and measure to 5.0 cm in height. Very light chipping is present on edges of some schorl crystals, as well as on the termination of the smoky quartz. The extent of this is clearly visible in the photos. Overall I think this piece in very good condition damage-wise. The luster of the schorl crystals is extremely bright making for an attractive piece.
