Quartz on Hematite after Ilvaite(?)
specimen number:
4082138
location:
Bessemer Ridge, North Bend, King Co., Washington, USA
description:
A cluster of what I believe to have been prismatic ilvaite crystals now replaced by hematite coated with needlelike small colorless quartz crystals. Not perfect, but a very good hand sized example for one of these. Normally these are labeled as coming after epidote.
Size: 12.0 x 9.0 x 5.0 cm (cabinet)
