description: The Foote Mineral Company traces its origins back to the late 19th century mineral business established by naturalist and physician Albert Edward Foote. Over the decades, the firm evolved into a major industrial chemical and mineral supplier, playing a pivotal role in metallurgy and the processing of raw materials like lithium, beryl, and various specialized ores. It became especially well known during the mid-20th century for large-scale lithium extraction operations from brine evaporation panels, such as those in Nevada's Clayton Valley, cementing its historic importance in both mineralogy and industrial chemistry.
A loose gemmy colorless glassy terminated crystal of quartz. Slight micro-damage present. This of interest as it has an old label glued to the bottom from the Foote Mineral Company in Philadelphia.
Size: 7.0 x 4.0 x 3.5 cm (small-cabinet)
