An attractive example from this classic Mexican locality. A grouping of glassy gem crystals of quartz, these with deep purple phantom crystals throughout. Complete all around, the condition is excellent. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark as shown at the end of the video. He originally acquired the piece in the early 1990s.

The Valenciana Mine in the Amatitlan area of Eduardo Neri, Guerrero, Mexico, is not a single large industrial operation but rather one of several small, localized prospect cuts and shallow artisanal vein workings within the famous Guerrero amethyst and gold-bearing mineral belt. While exact commercial opening and closing dates for this specific minor working are not formally documented in standard corporate registry archives, the broader Amatitlan mineral district saw initial localized prospect discoveries around 1930, with intermittent small-scale manual excavation occurring across various claims over subsequent decades. Geologically, the deposit consists of quartz and amethyst vein and pocket systems hosted within a region dominated by intrusion-related mineralization, where early Tertiary granitoid and granodioritic bodies intrude into older Cretaceous carbonate and calcareous sedimentary sequences of the Morelos-Guerrero basin.
