Quartz
specimen number:
1822133
location:
Amatitlan, Eduardo Neri, Guerrero, Mexico
description: Amatitlan in the Eduardo Neri municipality of Guerrero, Mexico, is famous for producing distinctive high quality mineral specimens through hydrothermal vein systems hosted within rugged regional limestone and volcanic rock formations. Mining activity in this remote mountainous terrain historically relied on small scale artisanal pocket diggings, adits, and clandestine claims worked by local prospectors. The resulting quartz variety forms stout, glassy, and tapered crystals featuring deep purple inner cores surrounded by paler outer growth zones. These prized collector pieces have gained international acclaim for their unique architectural growth habit and brilliant clarity.
A wonderful large cluster of lustrous translucent quartz crystals, these a light purple in color on the lower half, colorless on the upper half. Complete all around, this is in super condition. Very little matrix is attached to the bottom backside of the piece.
Size: 25.0 x 9.0 x 7.0 cm (large-cabinet)
