Superb old time German miniature specimen, this a cluster of lustrous brown pyromorphite crystals without matrix. In very good condition all around with just slight tiny micro-damage present. The condition is about as good as these will get. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.

The Rosenberg Mine in Braubach, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, is a historic underground operation located within the Lower Lahn and Middle Rhine mining district, with documentation dating back to the early 18th century and origins tied to medieval silver mining. Geologically, the mine worked a hydrothermal vein system hosted in the Rhenish Massif, where primary metal sulfides like galena, sphalerite, and chalcopyrite occurred within quartz and siderite gangue. Within the weathered oxidation zones of these polymetallic veins, circulating groundwater reacted with primary ore minerals and phosphate-bearing solutions to crystallize pyromorphite. This secondary lead mineral became world-renowned at Rosenberg and surrounding German localities for producing highly aesthetic, lustrous, barrel-shaped hexagonal crystals and crusts in shades of brown, orange, and green.
