Fine cabinet example for this Mexican classic with bright golden lustrous crystals of pyrite to 3.0 cm in size across the top of matrix. A thin botryoidal crystallized calcite is present throughout. This is in good condition with very minimal micro-damage present.

Concepcion del Oro, located in the northern part of Zacatecas, Mexico, is a historic mining center founded in the late 16th century following the discovery of rich mineral deposits in the region. Geologically, the area is characterized by complex mountain ranges featuring sedimentary formations, primarily Cretaceous limestones, that have been intruded by igneous rocks. These geological conditions fostered significant skarn-type mineralization, resulting in abundant reserves of precious and base metals, including gold, silver, copper, lead, and zinc, which shaped the settlement into a prominent colonial and modern mining hub.
