The Ampliacion a Victoria Mine in Navajun, La Rioja, Spain, was discovered in 1965 when exploration permits were first requested, and it officially received its exploitation concession on May 2, 1983, remaining active and operating to this day. Geologically, the deposit is world-renowned for yielding exceptionally perfect, mirror-faced cubic pyrite crystals formed within Cretaceous marl layers through hydrothermal metamorphism and sedimentary processes.
