Sacarimb, historically known as Nagyag in Hunedoara County, Romania, is a legendary mining center located within the Metaliferi Mountains. Commercial mining operations at the site began around 1740 to 1745 and continued with various interruptions until final closures occurred around 2006. Geologically, the area is characterized by Neogene calc-alkaline volcanic structures and hydrothermal vein systems associated with a complex caldera setting, famous for yielding a rich variety of rare telluride minerals. Among these, the locality is most renowned as the type locality for nagyagite, a rare and visually distinctive sulfosalt mineral containing gold, lead, antimony, iron, and sulfur that crystallized within these epithermal gold-silver deposits.
