Mimetite-on-Pyrite with Tetrahedrite, Quartz
specimen number:
3631020
location:
Black Pine mine, Granite Co., Montana, USA
description:
Extremely neat two-sided specimen, this a large bright lustrous pyrite crystal, the bottom side mostly coated with sparkling needlelike crystals of mimetite. Minor tetrahedrite and quartz present as well. Pyrite was never common in good specimens from this locality, this would be a great pyrite just on its own. The added mimetite makes this extra special I think.
