Koukouri, Trantimou, Diakon, Bafoulabe Cercle, Kayes, Mali
description: Located in the Kayes Region of western Mali, the Koukouri area within the Bafoulabe Cercle features complex Precambrian igneous and metamorphic geology that is particularly well-known for producing well-crystallized secondary mineral specimens. Discovered during regional geological surveys and mineral exploration, the site gained significant fame among collectors for high-quality epidote and garnets embedded in skarn and altered host rocks. Active surface mining and artisanal collection efforts have made Koukouri a classic African locality, providing worldwide collectors with notable display-grade mineral specimens.
An attractive loose glassy slightly translucent yellowish green crystal of grossular. A floater with no points of attachment, perfect all around.
