Lake George, Colorado, USA
description: The pegmatites near Lake George, Colorado, are hosted within the Pikes Peak Batholith and are world-renowned for cavities containing smoky quartz, microcline, and goethite. Formed during the Proterozoic era, these rich crystal pockets have a vibrant history of commercial and recreational mineral collecting dating back to the late 19th century. Rockhounds and miners have long prized the area for producing exceptional mineral specimens, particularly lustrous goethite pseudomorphs and iridescent crusts formed through the weathering of earlier iron-bearing minerals.
A loose spray of lustrous prismatic goethite crystals. In great condition all around. The specimen comes with a previous label from the Rock Hut in Leadville, Colorado.
Size: 4.5 x 1.5 x 0.5 cm (miniature)
