Very fine radiating grouping of goethite crystals with very little matrix. Displays nicely and in very good condition. Collected by Doug Collyer. The specimen comes with a label from the collection of Ray DeMark.

The pegmatites near Lake George, Colorado, formed within the mid-Proterozoic Pikes Peak batholith through late-stage magmatic crystallization that produced distinct miarolitic cavities. These zoned bodies are famous for hosting open pockets containing large, well-formed crystals. Mining history in the district dates back to the late nineteenth century, driven primarily by individual prospectors and modern mineral collectors targeting high-quality aesthetic mineral specimens.
