location:
Dolomite Products Quarry, Walworth, New York, USA
description: The Dolomite Products Quarry in Walworth, New York, is an active industrial crushed-stone operation working in hard Silurian dolostone formations containing fossilized stromatolites. While primarily functioning as a commercial aggregate quarry, it has achieved legendary status among mineral collectors through occasional organized open house events. Collectors prize the site for its exceptionally transparent, water-clear blue fluorite crystals and golden sphalerite specimens found growing within vugs and cavities of the tough host rock.
Classic New York fluorite specimen, gorgeous pale blue glassy and gemmy cubic crystal grouping of fluorite to 2.0 cm across standing up free from a matrix coated with dolomite crystals and minor sphalerite. This is in very good condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.
