Fluorite
specimen number:

location:
Touroug-El Hamda Quarries, Melaab Caidat, Goulmima Cercle, Errachidia, Draa-Tafilalet, Morocco
description: Located in the Errachidia Province of southeastern Morocco, the Touroug-El Hamda Quarries exploit hydrothermal vein systems hosted within regional rock formations of the Draa-Tafilalet region. Mining operations at these quarries have historically focused on extracting industrial minerals, notably yielding massive blocks of high-purity fluorite and large, well-formed baryte crystals alongside accessory quartz, hematite, and pyrite. Over time, the extensive vein excavations and artisanal workings also became widely known among mineral collectors and specimen dealers for producing striking aesthetic mineral specimens, particularly exceptional crystal clusters distributed globally to collectors and museums.
Yellowish green lustrous gemmy cubic crystals of fluorite to 2.5 cm in size nicely put across the top of matrix. The prominent crystal does have one cleaved corner low near where it sits on the matrix. From 2008.
