description: The Tule Mine near Melchor Muzquiz in Coahuila, Mexico, is part of a remote desert region dotted with numerous small workings hosted within sedimentary strata. Geologically, the area is famous for significant evaporite-associated and hydrothermal mineral deposits, yielding world-class mineral specimens. Mining in this district has historically targeted industrial minerals and commercial deposits, but the site has gained global fame among mineral collectors for producing exceptional specimens of deep lilac to purple fluorite crystals often associated with celestine and other matrix minerals.
Lustrous gemmy purple cubic crystals of fluorite measuring to 3.0 cm on edge across the top of matrix. Slight micro-cleaving present not atypical of these, this is in good condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.
