Fluorite
specimen number:
2062978
location:
Nikolaevskiy Mine, Dal'negorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Russia
description: The Nikolaevskiy Mine, located in the Dalnegorsk ore district of Primorskiy Kray, Russia, opened in 1982 and remains an active underground operation focused on polymetallic extraction. Geologically, the deposit is hosted within deformed Triassic-Jurassic limestone and skarn systems associated with Late Cretaceous volcanism. Hydrothermal activity formed extensive vugs and cavities within the carbonate rocks, creating ideal spaces for the crystallization of world-class sulfide and gangue mineral assemblages, including spectacular galena, sphalerite, pyrrhotite, pyrite, quartz, and fluorite.
A large grouping of beautiful gemmy and glassy light green fluorite crystals without matrix. The lower left corner on the grouping is cleaved as seen. This still quite nice. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark and dates to the early 1990s.
Size: 8.0 x 7.0 x 6.0 cm (small-cabinet)
