Fluorite
specimen number:
1711161
location:
Minerva mine #1 mine, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA
description:
A gemmy color zoned blue fluorite crystal 2.9 cm on edge set up on a yellow naturally etched crystallized fluorite matrix. This is in very good condition all around. There has been much discussion in the past over the origin of these neat specimens. I think in general etched portion is due to either hydrocarbon or barite that has since been etched away.
