Fluorapophyllite-K
specimen number:

location:
Pioneer Quarry, Kitsap County, Washington, USA
description: Pioneer Quarry is located in Bremerton, Kitsap County, Washington, USA, and is notable for its association with the regional geology of the Crescent Formation, which consists primarily of massive submarine and subaerial basalt flows dating from the late Paleocene to the middle Eocene. The site and surrounding rock formations provide exposure to these ancient volcanic basement rocks of the coastal range, which were formed in a subsiding rift basin and later heavily modified by regional tectonic activity and Quaternary glacial action.
Colorless pseudo-cubic slightly translucent crystal of fluorapophyllite 1.5 cm on edge on matrix. In good condition. Nice thumbnail for the species and locality.
Size: 3.0 x 2.5 x 1.8 cm (thumbnail)
