Very fine combination piece for this locality. Lustrous gemmy scalenohedral crystals of calcite measuring to 4.0 cm in size across the top of matrix with small deep purple color zoned gemmy crystals of lustrous fluorite to 0.5 cm in size. This is in good condition with minimal micro chipping present. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark. His label notes that at one time this was part of the collection of Don Gabriel and was acquired through the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum.

The Stoneco Auglaize Quarry near Junction in Paulding County, Ohio, extracts commercial aggregate from Paleozoic carbonate bedrock located along the Findlay Arch. Over decades of open-pit mining operations initially tied to historical local lime and stone companies and later managed by major aggregate producers like Stoneco and The Shelly Company, the quarry has cut deep into these sedimentary strata. Beyond its primary industrial output of crushed stone and construction materials, the site is widely celebrated in the mineralogical community for vugs and cavities within the limestone containing exceptional specimens of purple and iridescent brown fluorite, calcite, and associated sulfide minerals.
