An aesthetic and attractive example coming from a quarry were specimens are not often seen available. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark. The Sandusky Crushed Stone Company quarry located in Parkertown, Erie County, Ohio, became an active regional aggregate producer during the mid-twentieth century, with promotional materials and operations well-documented by the 1950s, and it continues to function as an active industrial limestone source today. Geologically, the quarry is excavated within the shallow Paleozoic bedrock of northern Ohio, specifically targeting the extensive carbonate strata of the Columbus and Delaware limestones, which lie directly beneath local glacial drift deposits in the Erie County basin.
