description: The Brushy Creek Mine, located in the Viburnum Trend of Reynolds County, Missouri, began production in the early 1970s as part of the region's major lead-zinc mining expansion and remains an active underground operation managed by The Doe Run Company. Geologically, the deposit is hosted within the Cambrian Bonneterre Dolomite, a regionally extensive carbonate rock sequence that drapes around the Paleozoic basement highs of the St. Francois Mountains. Mineralization primarily consists of lead, zinc, and copper sulfides that filled open spaces, fractures, and solution cavities within the dolostone host rock.
Unusual loose naturally etched crystal of calcite. Complete all around and in great condition. This exhibits relic casts of other crystals that have since dissolved away. Unusual and quite nice.
