Classic specimen for this locality with light blue glassy gemmy crystals of beryl, this the variety known as aquamarine, coming off matrix. Muscovite present throughout. In great condition. From the very early 1990s.

Located in the high altitude Sumayar Valley of Nagar District in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan, the Chumar Bakhoor mine was discovered in 1984 by a local hunter and sparked a major mining rush by 1988. While it is an active seasonal site rather than a permanently closed commercial facility, underground operations and tourist treks are strictly restricted to the summer months between July and October due to extreme winter weather, freezing temperatures, and heavy snow. Geologically, the site is situated within young Himalayan pegmatite veins high on western mountain slopes above 4000 meters. These extreme tectonic pressures and cooling conditions allow the formation of world-renowned, large, highly transparent aquamarine crystals that exhibit vivid blue-to-blue-green coloration alongside associated minerals like fluorite and apatite.
