description: Located within the historic Taxco mining district in Guerrero, Mexico, the Guerrero I Mine and its El Solar shaft are part of a renowned metallogenic region characterized by hydrothermal ore deposits hosted within Cretaceous limestone and Cenozoic volcanic sequences. Mining activity in this rugged mountainous terrain dates back centuries to the colonial era, driven by the extraction of precious and base metals from complex vein systems that established Taxco as one of the oldest and most prolific mining centers in the Western Hemisphere.
An attractive loose grouping of pale blue glassy gemmy tabular barite crystals without matrix. This is in good condition all around. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark and dates to the very early 1990s.
