2063076
location:
San Antonio Mine, East Camp, Santa Eulalia, Aquiles Serdan, Chihuahua, Mexico
description: The San Antonio Mine, situated in the East Camp of the historic Santa Eulalia district in Aquiles Serdan, Chihuahua, Mexico, is defined geologically by massive replacement ore bodies and veins hosted within thick sequences of Cretaceous limestone intruded by tertiary igneous rocks. Historically, large-scale mining in the district began in the early 18th century, transforming the region into one of Mexico's most prolific producers of silver, lead, and zinc. Over the decades, underground workings and deep exploratory levels yielded exceptional mineral specimens that became highly prized by international collectors and museums for their remarkable crystal forms and aesthetic variety.
A loose grouping of bright metallic silver sharply formed arsenopyrite crystals. In excellent condition. Classic for the species and locality.
