Analcime with Prehnite
specimen number:
2341022
location:
Anemzi, Agoudim Caidat, Boumia Cercle, Midelt, Draa-Tafilalet, Morocco
description: The geology of the Anemzi and Agoudim region within the Boumia circle of Midelt, Morocco, is characterized by complex Jurassic sedimentary and volcanic sequences, featuring marine carbonates, marls, and associated igneous or hydrothermal alterations within the Atlas Mountains. Within these geologic settings, low-temperature hydrothermal processes and alkali-rich environments facilitate the formation of minerals like analcime, a tectosilicate of the zeolite group that crystallizes in cavities and veins. Local mining and mineral collecting in this remote mountainous terrain are largely artisanal, driven by local prospectors and international dealers targeting the region's diverse vugs and pocket rocks to recover aesthetic crystal specimens for the global mineral market.
Quite nice for the species, colorless opaque non-lustrous well-formed crystals of analcime measuring to 1.3 cm in size across the top of a crystallized prehnite matrix. In great condition.
Size: 8.0 x 7.0 x 6.0 cm (small-cabinet)
