description: Jebel Ewargizen, located in the Tirrhist area within the Midelt Province of Morocco, features an igneous geology dominated by nepheline syenites. The region is famous among specimen miners and mineral collectors for its pegmatite veins, which cut through these alkalic intrusive rocks. While no major industrial mining operations exist at the peak, local collectors systematically work these shallow pegmatitic outcrops. The locality is particularly renowned for producing exceptional specimens of arfvedsonite, a rare sodium amphibole mineral. Found within the weathered vein pockets alongside feldspar, epidote, and magnetite, the dark prismatic arfvedsonite crystals from Jebel Ewargizen can reach sizes exceeding twelve centimeters, making them highly prized on the global mineral market.
Quite good for the species, lustrous black thick prismatic crystals of arfvedsonite to 2.0 cm in length throughout this matrix of blocky white opaque semi lustrous crystals of microcline. Displays well and in great condition.
