The La Morita Mine, located in the Ascencion Municipality of northern Chihuahua, Mexico, is an active underground mining operation developed along a hydrothermal barite vein carrying polymetallic base-metal mineralization. Historically worked for commodities such as silver, lead, zinc, and barite, the site gained widespread international recognition among mineral collectors starting around 2018 for producing exceptional, pristine mineral specimens. Geologically, the deposit is characterized by supergene oxidation processes acting upon primary sulfide ores within a barite and quartz gangue, creating rich secondary mineral assemblages renowned for sharp tabular crystals and associated micro-crystal coatings.
