Good old time specimen from Arkansas, sparkling crystallized balls of wavellite to 1.3 cm in diameter across the front of matrix. This is in really good condition, most often these are found broken open with just radiating crystals. Displays nicely. The specimen comes with a previous label from the collection of Ray DeMark.

Dug Hill, located just south of Avant in Garland County, Arkansas, is a well-known mineral collecting area that has been prospected by collectors for many decades. Geologically, the site is situated within the Ouachita Mountains region, where secondary minerals formed within low-grade metamorphic rocks and local chert and shale formations. The locality is famous specifically for producing exceptional specimens of wavellite, which typically occurs as distinct radiating, spherical globule aggregates ranging in color from dark green to yellow-green resting upon a gray or tan sandy chert matrix.
